Improving medical knowledge and patient care, and preserving important health information. Research can lead to new treatments, better understand public health trends, and improve clinical practices, benefiting both current and future patients. Archiving maintains essential medical histories, supporting long-term patient care and continuity between healthcare providers. These benefits are significant as they enhance healthcare quality, promote public health, and aid medical decisions. To balance these benefits with privacy concerns, Ozone Hub will anonymise data when possible, follow strict security measures, and respect patient privacy. By being transparent and allowing patients control over their data, we can pursue research and archiving without compromising personal privacy.

How long we keep information
The Ozone Hub retains data in accordance with national guidance on medical records management. The British Medical Association (BMA) give detailed advice about the minimum retention periods applicable to medical records. The recommendations apply to both electronic and manual records. The BMA advises private practitioners to follow the same rules as NHS providers and hospitals. Hospital records should be kept for a minimum of eight years following the end of treatment, although certain types of records, such as children’s records, obstetric records, and mental health records are kept for longer.
